When I put a piece on the lathe, I try to let it tell me what it wants to be. Sometimes that means a functional piece, sometimes it becomes artwork.

I believe that wood is a natural material and we should let it do what it wants; as such, many of my pieces have cracks, warps, and other defects. I think it’s better that way.

Sometimes, wood needs help to make it into something. Epoxy is a valuable tool that I use sparingly to save wood that would otherwise become trash and not get a chance to be beautiful.
